Leo van Gemert
Leo van Gemert, has recently retired. This made it possible to spend more time to his compilations of threshold values. He has been active in the field of sensory research for the past 35 years, mainly at the research institute of TNO, Zeist, The Netherlands. He developed psychophysical methods for measuring thresholds values of samples of air or water in relation to environmental odour pollution and for the measurement of volatile compounds in important for the odour and flavour of foods and drinks. He is (co-)author of more than 70 articles and publications on sensory and consumer research. He started to compile original odour, flavour or taste threshold values from the literature in the mid seventies of the last century. His first compilation was published in 1977. The latest update stems from 2003 and the subsequently following published compilations contain an ever increasing amount of threshold values. A complete survey of his compilations is given here |
